What does "free 1:1 setup" actually mean?
You tell us how you want your clients to get rates — by email, on your website, or both — and we configure it with you: your branding, the states you work, the cadence, the embed code on the right page. There is no setup fee. Branded email campaigns run on the Pro plan ($49/month); the embeddable widget is free and needs no API key.
Where do the rates come from?
The published rate sheets of 3,700+ US credit unions, re-read daily. Every rate we serve carries the verbatim snippet from the lender’s own page and an observed timestamp; if a rate cannot be proven from the source page, it is not served. Mortgage rates are shown only while they are fresh — stale rates are suppressed rather than displayed.
Can I scope rates to my city or ZIP code?
Emails and the embed are scoped by state (one state, several, or a region preset). ZIP-level lookups — which credit unions a buyer can join near a ZIP and what they publish — exist in the API and the public rate check today, and are part of what we can set up with you 1:1.
Which products can I send?
Email campaigns carry 30-year and 15-year fixed mortgage rates (auto, RV, boat and motorcycle loans are available too). The embed can show 30-year fixed, 15-year fixed, or both. ARM, FHA, VA and jumbo rates are in the API and on rateapi.dev, but not yet in campaigns or the widget.
Is this a lead-generation product? Do you contact my clients?
No. RateAPI takes no affiliate or referral revenue, sells no leads, and never contacts your recipients. Your list stays yours. Emails go out under your name with a one-click unsubscribe and your business address, following CAN-SPAM norms.
Will this help my website show up in AI answers?
Not directly — and that is by design. The rates on your page stay attributed to RateAPI, which is the source assistants cite; your page gets the credibility of showing verified, current numbers, and your clients get them from you first. Your edge is being the agent who delivers the market, not the one who republishes it.
Are these rates offers my buyers can get?
They are published rates, not offers. Final pricing follows the lender’s underwriting, and credit unions require membership first. That is why every rate names the institution and its date — your buyer can verify it on the lender’s own site and ask about joining.
