Independence & Neutrality
RateAPI exists to answer one question honestly: which rate is actually best for you. Nothing in our rankings is for sale.
No paid placement
No lender can pay to rank higher, appear first, or be featured. Position is earned by the rate, never bought.
No affiliate links in rankings
RateAPI takes no affiliate or referral revenue. There are no affiliate links embedded in the ordered results.
No lead sales
We do not sell borrower leads. A ranking exists to inform you, not to route you to whoever pays the most.
Ranked by true cost
Every option is ordered by true cost — APR plus points and fees — so the top result is genuinely the best deal.
Why this matters
Most rate comparison sites are advertising businesses. Their default ordering is driven by which lender pays for the click, the lead, or the placement — not by which rate costs the borrower least. That conflict is invisible to the person reading the page, and it is the reason a “best rate” list so often is not.
RateAPI is built the opposite way. The product is the data and the ranking, sold directly to developers and institutions through an API. Because no lender pays us for position, there is nothing to trade away. The order you see is the order true cost produces.
How the neutrality is enforced
Neutrality here is not a slogan — it is a property of the ranking code path. Results are sorted by APR inclusive of points and fees, computed the same way for every institution. Rates are collected directly from credit union rate sheets and re-verified daily, and each figure carries the timestamp of the data it came from. Lenders that exhibit deceptive bait-and-switch behavior are penalized, not promoted.
You can read the full collection, normalization, and verification process on the methodology page. When we get something wrong, we log and correct it in the open — see corrections.
What we do sell
RateAPI makes money from API access and data licensing — developers, fintech products, treasury teams, and AI agents paying for programmatic access to daily-verified rate data. That business model is what lets the rankings stay honest: our customers pay us for accurate data, so accuracy and neutrality are the product, not a cost.
